After a three months summer break, AI Monday Berlin is back!. Located in the new spacious coworking space The Drivery in Berlin-Tempelhof, the focus topic was MOBILITY. Torgen Hauschild, Co-Founder & CIO AIPARK, started with his fascinating presentation: “How to use computer vision on the edge to build live curb sidemaps”.
He was followed by an inspiring speech on how to manage a fleet of “Automated Guided Vehicles” using AI by Elham Mirzaei.
Kira Kempinska, Machine Learning Researcher from the Poland-based AI Startup Alphamoon, talked about “How to build an acoustic tracking system with embedded AI”.
The evening was closed by Matthias Meisdrock and Dr. Tae-Gil Noh with an interesting insight to AI based customer service – based on an example of Callabike – a shared mobility service.
The first AI Monday in the Stuttgart region was phenomenal. With 130 guests the Porsche Foundry in Ludwigsburg was at capacity limits – a perfect location! The Porsche team have done an amazing job preparing everything.
After me (Juri Stobbe) giving a short intro, Anja Hendel and Simone Schulz from Porsche opened up giving an update on what Porsche does in the AI space including some selected first use cases. Sebastian Klenk from 5Analytics followed with giving an expert view on how to bring AI prototypes into production environments. Raoul Schönhof from Fraunhover IPA provided us with an intro on what AI actually is + some very cool use cases he is working on. The evening was closed by Friedrich Münke from the vialytics team showcasing their solution and some insights on the engine beneath.
Our 8th AI Monday Berlin on June 17 was part of the 2019 Berlin BuzzWords Conference in the Kulturbrauerei. The evening was opened up by Ahmed Kamal giving us a deep dive on how Careem, one of the leading mobility companies in the Middle East, develops ML models, their challenges and how their platform Yoda solves those. Calvin Seward from Zalando talked about Security and Risks in an AI-driven environment. Very emotional as well to see how AI is misused already today to abuse human rights. The third talk by Andreas Schindler, co-founder of Deep Neuron Labs, gave us insights into how to approach Machine Learning projects and what to consider before. The evening was closed by Felix Biessmann, from Amazon Research, who talked about handle data quality in ML production systems.

The weather on our fourth AI Monday in 2019 was, well, mixed, but the speeches were all fantastic. Valerio Velardo started the evening with an interesting insight into AI and music. He was followed by Baver Acu introducing us to “Chris” their AI car assistant and the challenges to build it. The 3rd speech we heard from Saskia Ostendorff was a plea for sharing Open Legal data to make it work for AI algos to improve transparency and legal decision making. Robert Förster finished the event about numerous existing use cases on text2speech or vice versa with a demo of synchronization of famous tv shows.
